Selby House History Event

Nearly 50 years Selby Community House was established based on community need. The house has a long and rich history and was integral to the development of community houses in Victoria and initiated programs such as community based playgroup, childcare, Selby Folk club and community development courses (which are now delivered in TAFE). Women were the driving force of change at the time with just a few creating an incredibly unique and important community space, which has since supported so many.

We would be delighted if you could join us at the Launch event of The People’s Movement: The Birth of Selby Community House Film, Podcasts and History Exhibition on the 23rd of February, Thursday at 6 pm for a 6.30 pm start.

6.30 pm – Launch of the History Project (3 years in the making) – Learn about the powerful change happening in 1975 and hear from those who saw the opportunity for change.

6.35 pm – View the History Exhibition (Images of the past) and Light Supper and drinks

6.50 pm onward – Listen to our four podcasts with past reflections by those involved in the community house

7.45 pm – View the 30 minute documentary – The people’s movement – The birth of Selby Community House.
